The original recording of "After the Love Has Gone" by Airplay, a band formed by Foster and Graydon, was released on their 1980 eponymous album following Earth, Wind & Fire's hit version, featuring Champlin on backing vocals. Stanley Turrentine also covered the song on his 1981 album Tender Togetherness.

There was nothing Earth, Wind & Fire and its visionary founder, Maurice White couldn't conquer in their prime. After all, the mammoth band worked tirelessly in the 1970s, chiseling their universal message and all-encompassing sound to mass appeal, while scoring hit singles and million-selling albums.

A cover version of Earth, Wind & Fire was released in July 1978 through Columbia Records. It was taken from the soundtrack to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and taken from their greatest hits album The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire, Vol. 1. It went to number 9 in the United States, number 20 in New Zealand and number 33 in the Netherlands
